Military Ranks. Though modern ranks such as 'Captain' and 'General' have been adopted, and are used when clarity is needed speaking to outsiders, the following are the more formal versions of the various ranks.
Auxiliary (Expendable Troops such as Undead, Militia, Mercenaries, allied forces, or Slaves.): Hospes (A Guest): Amicus (A Respected Outsider): Legionnaire (Professional Soldier) Modern Equivilent: “Guardsman” Armicustos (Quartermaster) Artifex (Quartermaster for Artifacts and Rituals) Draconarius (Cavalry) In ancient times, these soldiers rode aerial mounts. Praetorian Guard (The General’s Honor Guard.) They typically are assigned to protect key figures, typically a legion's Praetor, however they are occasionally given more specialized assignments. Centurian (Officer) Modern Equivilent: “Captain” Praefectus (Commander of the Legion’s Praetorian Guard): Tribune (One of 5 Assistants to a Legion. Commands a Division.) Chaplain (Hand Selected soldiers who are in charge of ‘Moral’ and report directly to the Empress): Pontifex (Commander of a Legion’s Magical forces): Praetor (Commander of a Legion) Modern Equivilent: General
