There are many mountaintop monasteries, where Peasants and Nobles alike frequently visit to pay homage to spirits of their ancestors, practice ritual ceremonies, and to respect the Dragons Sen, Hé, Nao, Mei, and Fa, the symbols of the five noble houses. Above all, they revere Guokami, the name they call the dragon said to be the powerful one who is responsible for Mandala’s origins.
The monasteries are home to several monks who have forsaken all material goods and wealth to become the protectors of Mandalan faith. They are exceptional warriors, and oftentimes, former soldiers that have retired to a life seeking peace and tranquility.
Common Religious Practices: A ritual dance involving the “Language of the fan”. Sharing tea with ancestors. Leaving gifts for the Dragons. Prayers for good fortune accompanied by meditation. Ritual physical practice displaying controlled fighting movements. Musical interpretation as well as artistic interpretation. Worship of the Old Ways, especially of the God Vein.
